About the Role
Performs specialized office work of moderate difficulty under supervision, including processing confidential and sensitive documents related to misdemeanor, felony, and civil cases.
Responsibilities
- Receives, reviews, processes, and distributes confidential and sensitive documents
- Updates electronic records and researches records to disburse information
- Records and documents court proceedings
- Receives and processes payments, fees, or bonds
- Compiles reports and summaries of work
- Schedules, gathers materials, and prepares agendas for court hearings
- May issue search or fugitive warrants and generate warrants and orders to show cause
- May notify attorneys regarding continuances
- Composes, formats, and types correspondence, reports, and other documents
- May answer incoming phone calls
- May assist other agencies with information and explaining procedures
- May orient and train other staff
- May prepare and maintain accounting and other records
- Handles and accounts for cash in various amounts
Essential Functions
- Walking and sitting for extended periods
- Lifting and carrying files, supplies, and mail (1-50 lbs)
- Pushing/pulling carts, doors, and filing cabinets (1-50 lbs)
- Climbing stairs
- Working with interruptions and repetitive motion (hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder)
- Vision acuity for writing, typing, and interacting with staff and the public
- Hearing and speech for ordinary conversation
- Finger dexterity for typing, writing, and filing
Requirements
- Two years of experience in clerical work; OR any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the position
- Must pass fingerprint clearance
- This position is non-exempt from overtime
Skills & Knowledge
- Considerable knowledge of Justice Court terms and meanings
- Office practices and procedures
- Rules and procedures of the department, including state and federal law
- Word processing, spreadsheets, and other computer applications
- Business English, spelling, and arithmetic
- Operation and maintenance of a variety of office equipment
- Customer service, researching, and problem-solving
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public
- Ability to work safely and support workplace safety culture
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to type and perform data entry accurately
- Ability to prepare and maintain complex records and reports
