Junior Project Manager

Description Main Purpose: The Junior Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, execution, and closeout of complex fabrication and construction projects. Working closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Production, Quality, Procurement and Client representatives, this role helps ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to customer specifications. This position is designed for entry-level professionals and provides hands-on exposure to project management within a heavy industrial fabrication environment. Essential Functions Work closely with Division Leadership (Program Managers, Engineering, Project Controls, Operations, Purchasing, Safety, HR and Quality) to plan and develop scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, schedule etc. in order to effectively execute the project contract(s)Track project schedules, milestones, deliverables and action items to help ensure timely project executionMaintain positive liaison with customers, on site customer inspectors, management etc. to ensure open line of communication regarding customer concerns, complaints, change orders etc. and follow up accordingly with all applicable company management and supervisorsStrategize, implement and maintain project initiatives that achieve organizational objectivesAssist with reviewing customer specifications, drawings, contracts and technical documents to understand project requirementsWork with field personnel, shop supervisors and department managers to gather project status informationSupport cost tracking efforts by compiling project expenditures, labor hours, budget information and return on investmentMaintain organized project records, including correspondence, submittals, change requests and project filesIdentify opportunities for optimization and / or improvement of the division’s policies, practices, work flows etc.Identify risks, mitigation strategies and opportunities across multiple projects within the divisionCollaborate with other Project Managers or Program Managers on recurring itemsSubmit routine and ad hoc, internal and external reportingParticipate in project meetings and prepare meeting agendas, notes and follow-up action logsPerform other duties assigned by supervisor Requirements Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Maritime Management, Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Management or related fieldMust be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.)Ability to learn project scheduling and project management softwareStrong organizational and time management skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsWillingness to spend time in both office and fabrication yard environmentsMust be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and physicalMust be able to pass a background check Desirable Experience, Education And Training Previous experience in construction, fabrication or oil and gas preferredHigh School Diploma or equivalent Physical Requirements Standing, sitting, walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing, feeling, talking, hearing and seeingTurning, twisting, bending and balancingPushing, pulling and reachingMust be able to lift and / or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50-75 pounds Tools, Equipment And Technology Office equipmentPPE Environmental Conditions This role is within an office environment. 30% percent of the work activities are performed outside, within a fabrication yard environment.
