About the role
Fenwick & West is seeking to expand its Chambers-ranked Privacy & Security practice by hiring a junior associate with 2 to 4 years of experience in privacy and cybersecurity law, particularly in business transactions like mergers and acquisitions, licensing, and other technology transactions.
Responsibilities
- Counsel clients on privacy compliance aspects of transactional work, including mergers and acquisitions, financings, capital markets transactions, and technology transactions.
- Negotiate privacy-related contracts or data processing agreements.
- Draft privacy and security policies.
- Provide comprehensive cybersecurity legal services, including governance, preparedness, compliance, data breach response, and defense of regulatory investigations and multidistrict class-action litigation.
- Have a solid understanding of federal privacy laws (TCPA, GLBA, FCRA, CAN-SPAM, COPPA, FTC Act), state privacy laws (CCPA), and international privacy laws and regimes (GDPR).
- Experience with AI counseling is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications
- Bar membership in the jurisdiction where applying (as appropriate) or eligibility to take the next available exam is required.

Benefits and Compensation

The anticipated range for this position is $235,000 - $310,000, depending on the role, the actual base salary offered may depend on various factors. A discretionary bonus for eligible employees may also be available based on performance.
