Position description

The Department of Clinical Pharmacy is now recruiting a Junior or Assistant Specialist. The position of duties will include:

  • Work on research related to clinical pharmacology and bioanalysis of drugs and related molecules, primarily in the field of infectious disease (e.g. malaria, HIV, COVID-19). This will include a mix of wet and dry lab work including but not limited to quantification method development and validation, study planning and coordination, clinical sample analysis, and pharmacokinetic/ pharmacodynamic data analysis.
  • Contributes to grants, manuscripts, presentations, and other forms of scientific dissemination by performing calculations, preparing figures/tables, and drafting methods.
  • Affords assistance in training students, post-doctoral scholars, and other members of the lab in the above techniques.

Require Qualifications

  • Junior Specialist- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent degree) in a relevant field or at least four years of research experience.
  • Assistant Specialist- Master's degree (or equivalent degree) in a relevant field or a bachelor’s degree with three or more years of research experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of HPLC / LC-MS/MS
  • Demonstrated experience associated with one or more of the following: HPLC hardware and software and performance analysis and research, design, modification, and implementation of HPLC methods.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization and to external research and education audiences.
  • Proven skills and experience in independently resolving broad problems related to drug analysis.
  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to successfully work on multiple concurrent projects.
