About the role
The Security Analyst 2 conducts advanced computer forensic investigations, data recovery, and electronic discovery. They also maintain and enhance systems to protect data from unauthorized access, develop and implement security protocols and policies, and identify, report, and resolve more complex security violations and threats.
Responsibilities
- Conducts advanced computer forensic investigations, data recovery, and electronic discovery.
- Maintains and enhances systems to protect data from unauthorized access.
- Develops and implements security protocols and policies.
- Identifies, reports, and resolves more complex security violations and threats.
- Operates in a 24/7 environment including holidays; shift work is required to maintain continuous coverage.
- Participates actively in incident response activities, including initial triage, investigation, containment, eradication, and recovery.
- Conducts analysis and evidence collection as part of incident investigations.
- Supports post-incident activities, including root cause analysis, lessons learned, and reporting.
- Updates ticketing system with detailed incident records and status updates.
- Communicates effectively with stakeholders during security incidents, providing timely updates and recommendations.
- Contributes to continuous improvement of incident response processes and SOC documentation.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in security operations or IT support role.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to collect, organize, and analyze data.
- Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Ability to identify and communicate best practices.
- Ability to understand, document, and analyze business processes from a control and operational perspective.
- Responsible for security identity verifications and access control reviews during incidents.
- Required to be on-call after hours to support security incidents.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field required, or 1-2 years of experience in IT support or IT security roles in lieu of a degree.
- Certification in relevant specialty or field required. Industry certifications: CompTIA Security+ (Sec+), CySA+, CEH, preferred.
