Junior DS Engineer

GDIT is seeking Junior Distribution Systems Engineers to support the BIM contract on site at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, Hawaii. Candidates must reside in the Honolulu area for daily onsite project support. US citizenship is required.

About the role

A Junior Distribution Systems Engineer will support basic installation of equipment and infrastructure for the BIM contract, including:

• Rack and stack new network equipment
• Installation and activation of UPS, PDUs, APs, patch panels, and CAT-6 cabling
• Install new or upgraded technologies under guidance
• Document fieldwork findings and report issues affecting project progress
• Support equipment assessments and provide preliminary observations
• Participate in training sessions and share basic product information with customers
• Maintain positive customer interactions and proper equipment support
• Review basic tasks completed by peers and escalate concerns
• Communicate daily with team members to support project timelines
• Coordinate site access, equipment readiness, and schedule alignment with Government POCs
• Support project manager with stakeholder communication and updates
• Provide technical input on ISP/OSP activities and gather information for design recommendations
• Participate in small implementation teams focusing on assigned tasks

Responsibilities

• Assist with technical, administrative, and operational tasks for assigned projects
• Prepare basic project documentation, reports, and updates under guidance
• Perform entry-level technical tasks following established quality standards
• Assist with planning activities by gathering data and providing workload estimates
• Update network documentation and as-built records based on splicing and testing results
• Contribute to deliverables by preparing drafts or collecting required information
• Follow quality assurance processes to ensure project accuracy
• Work effectively in a collaborative team environment

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Engineering discipline or 2+ years of related experience
• Active Secret Level Clearance required
• Security+ CE certification
• Familiarity with distribution systems (ISP/OSP) design and implementation documents (e.g., design documentation, as-built diagrams, rack elevations, circuit connectivity matrices)
• Familiarity with all aspects of fiber testing
• Thorough understanding of wired and general IT functions
• US citizenship

Pay

The likely salary range for this position is $72,877 – $98,599, based on experience, geographic location, and contractual requirements.
