About the role
Join the Manufacturing Control team at Contec, where you’ll work on PLC programming and visualization to build the factory of the future. As a Junior Controls Engineer, you’ll own projects from start to finish—designing solutions, coding, testing, and commissioning—all while collaborating closely with customers and your project coordinator.
Responsibilities
- Develop a Function Design Specification (FDS) by analyzing the client’s User Requirements Document (URD) and proposing optimal solutions.
- Program PLCs and design HMI interfaces according to the approved FDS, following either client or Contec standards.
- Enable data exchange between PLCs and parent systems in partnership with the MOM/MES department.
- Prepare and conduct internal office simulations (Factory Acceptance Tests) with clients, either on-site or remotely.
- Commission and start up systems on-site, perform Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and fine-tune as needed.
- Compile project documentation, including FDS, operator/training manuals, and other deliverables to meet milestones.
- Provide aftercare support as required by the project.
- Collaborate with the project team and clients to ensure successful project completion.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or Electromechanics (or equivalent work experience).
- First work experience in automation engineering is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
- Proactive and logical problem-solving approach.
- Willingness and ability to travel for project work; comfortable working in diverse industrial environments and collaborating with customers on-site.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
Skills
- Required knowledge of at least one of the following automation technologies:
- Rockwell: Studio 5000, FTview
- Siemens: Step7, TIA Portal, WinCC, PCS7
- Beneficial (but not required) knowledge of:
- Schneider: EcoStruxure Control Expert, Operator Terminal Expert
- Networks: ProfiNet, Ethernet-IP, Profibus, DeviceNet, ControlNet
