Key Responsibilities
- Assist with financial reporting and accounting tasks including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Perform monthly account reconciliations and analyze balance sheet accounts.
- Review general ledger transactions and ensure accounting accuracy.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Absorb journal entries and account analysis.
- Assist with project accounting and cost control by monitoring project costs, budgets, and profitability.
- Analyze project margins and identify cost variances.
- Support project managers with financial information and reporting.
- Review purchase orders, vendor invoices, and project allocations.
- Assist with budgeting and financial analysis by preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Prepare financial analyses and management reports.
- Monitor cash flow and working capital.
- Develop KPI reports and financial dashboards.
- Analyze operational expenses and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Aid in compliance and internal controls by assisting with external audits and tax preparation.
- Maintain accounting policies and internal controls.
- Support compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Ensure proper documentation and record retention.
- Absorb sales tax and other regulatory filings as required.
- Support treasury and banking by monitoring cash balances, processing wire transfers, and banking reconciliations.
- Help maintain financing schedules and debt records.
- Process improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance accounting and financial processes.
- Absorb accounting system enhancements and develop financial procedures and documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 2-5 years of accounting or financial analysis experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with ERP or accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA candidate or working toward CPA certification.
- Experience in construction, engineering, manufacturing, energy, or industrial projects.
- Experience with project accounting.
- Knowledge of sales tax and multi-state accounting.
