Junior CADD Technician

About the role

The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Safety & Site Support Division seeks a Junior CADD Technician. Under the direct supervision of the Chief of CADD, the Junior CADD Technician will be responsible for producing various Land Survey Map deliverables for DDC capital construction projects including Topographical/Property Line, Highway/Sewer Plan and Profile maps using AutoCAD and Carlson or Civil 3D applications. The Junior CADD Technician will also maintain CADD standards and templates across all deliverables, assist with basic survey calculations, review all completed maps for accuracy, completeness, and coordinate with field units when clarification is needed.

Responsibilities

• Produce various Land Survey Map deliverables for DDC capital construction projects including Topographical/Property Line, Highway/Sewer Plan and Profile maps using AutoCAD and Carlson or Civil 3D applications.
• Maintain CADD standards and templates across all deliverables.
• Aid in basic survey calculations.
• Review all completed maps for accuracy, completeness, and coordinate with field units when clarification is needed.

Requirements

Please note: All candidates must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States (U.S.). In compliance with Public Law 99-603, candidates are required to present original documents proving citizenship or the legal right to work in the U.S. DDC is unable to support or sponsor any visa application or visa extension, including but not limited to OPT/STEM visas, H-1B visas, F-1 practical training, permanent residence sponsorship, or any proposed change of visa type. DDC does not offer a training program as required by U.S. immigration law, and is not hiring temporary employees. Candidates must have proper work authorization when an employment offer is made.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in surveying, surveying engineering, surveying engineering technology or in similar surveying-related majors, and two years of full-time satisfactory land surveying experience;
• An associate degree from an accredited college or university in the surveying-related majors listed in "1" above, and four years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "1" above;
• A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization and six years of full time satisfactory experience as described in "1" above;
• A motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.

Skills

• Proficient in various aspects of CADD.
• Able to read and understand as built and/or record information from various utility sources.
• Strong analytical, verbal, written, multitasking, computer skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow established drafting standards.
• Working knowledge of Civil 3D is a plus.

Additional Qualification Requirements

• To be assigned to Assignment Level I - B individuals must have at least one additional year of experience, for a minimum of three years of full-time satisfactory experience as described under Qualification Requirement "1" above.
• To be assigned to Assignment Level II, individuals must have two additional years of experience for a minimum of four years of full-time satisfactory experience as described under Qualification Requirement "1" above.
• To be assigned to Assignment Level III, individuals must have three additional years of experience for a minimum of five years of full-time satisfactory experience as described under Qualification Requirement "1" above and must meet the "License Requirements" described below.

License Requirements

• Registration as a New York State Land Surveyor is required for appointment to Assignment Level III. To be assigned to officially sign off on land surveying work, a Surveyor - Assignment Level II must be a registered New York State Land Surveyor.

Preferred Skills

• Candidates should be proficient in various aspects of CADD and have the ability to read and understand as built and/or record information from various utility sources.
• Strong analytical, verbal, written, multitasking, computer skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow established drafting standards are preferred.
• Working knowledge of Civil 3D is a plus.
