About the role
The Junior Buyer is responsible for purchasing and planning materials, components, and services consistent with specified levels of quality, delivery, price, and total cost.
1st Shift Available: Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm
Responsibilities
- Create purchase orders for raw materials, outside services, supplies, and materials for product lines
- Perform required purchasing tasks to procure assigned parts, materials, supplies, equipment, and services required for operation of business
- Contact suppliers, obtain and evaluate quotations, place orders, and ensure timely delivery
- Exercise judgment and knowledge of assigned commodities to make purchases consistent with specified levels of quality, delivery, and price
- Monitor critical inventory levels and expected receipts to eliminate unexpected failures in the production schedule and customer orders
- Expedite delivery of critical material
- Ensure requisitions, purchase orders, and changes are input into system and documented in a timely manner in accordance with established procedures and legal requirements
- Communicate material shortages to production planners
- Provide input to purchasing measurements which indicate buyer and supplier performance
- Advise the area manager, in a timely manner, of impending supplier failure to fulfill delivery requirements that may delay production, after exhausting all means within limits of delegated authority to solve such problems
- Maintain accurate production schedules to enable product flow and ensure on-time deliveries
- Update bottleneck scheduling reports for manufacturing
- Support visibility on information required by operations leaders
- Prepare and distribute production and dispatch schedules
- Partner and guide the daily activities of the Material Handler
- Assist in inventory activities
- Support and comply with the company Quality System, ISO, and medical device requirements
- Read, understand, and follow work instructions and standard work
- Partner with other business segments: sales/marketing, customer service, engineering, quality, and finance
- Understand customer needs and the core business markets we serve
- Ensure business systems are implemented, maintained, and functioning properly
- Participate in required company meetings
- Maintain an organized work area (5S)
- Participate in the Operational Excellence Program
- Complete all other work duties as assigned
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Manufacturing and ERP system experience
- Organization and detail orientation
- Ability to consistently achieve short and long-term business results
- Ability to follow through on commitments and hold team members accountable
- Strong problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment (desirable)
- Negotiating skills (desirable)
- Experience with lean tools (desirable)
- Continuing Education; including participation in local chapters, associations, and/or organizations (desirable)

Pay
Pay Range: USD $52,300.00 - USD $75,900.00 per year. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal equity, business needs, and local market conditions.
