Junior Buyer

About the role

We are a broadline distributor with a cash n carry operation delivering quality food, service and custom solutions to foodservice operators and restaurants throughout the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut markets. Our growing company is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Buyer to assist the senior buying team in procurement, vendor coordination, market & price analysis and inventory management, interacting with finance, sales and warehouse teams to ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in purchasing/sourcing food products to meet demand
• Request quotes
• Negotiate pricing
• Enter and track purchase orders
• Track deliveries and resolve shipping/invoicing discrepancies
• Monitor stock levels in the warehouse to prevent shortages
• Prepare purchasing reports
• Provide support to the procurement team

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management
• High school diploma with 2 years of purchasing/sourcing or inventory experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Ability to work in a fast-paced food service environment
• Strong communication, negotiation, time management and problem-solving skills
