About the role
The Junior Buyer coordinates the purchase of products and materials for the organization. They conduct market research to identify the best quality materials and products at competitive prices, build and maintain vendor relationships, and handle administrative duties related to purchases, including order tracking and record-keeping.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, process, and analyze the organization’s RFQ needs.
- Create sourcing strategies considering market conditions for products and resins.
- Establish baselines and spend segments for products.
- Develop and support strategic long-term partnerships.
- Support facilities with PDT needs for new and existing platforms.
- Assist with supplier development and future organizational growth in equipment and technology.
- Issue requests for quotation and follow up on responses.
- Analyze responses and make sourcing recommendations.
- Issue engineering change requests and follow up on responses.
- Maintain strong working relationships with vendors.
- Review purchasing agreements and maintain open communication with vendors.
- Develop processes for measuring supply inventory and determining purchasing needs based on quarterly and annual data.
- Stay updated with industry trends and establish long-term purchasing agreements when beneficial.
- Compare product deliveries with purchase orders and resolve discrepancies with vendors.
- Engage in continuous improvement opportunities.
- Maintain compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 standards.
- Follow all safety, housekeeping (5S), and company policies and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain preferred.
- 1–4 years of experience in a purchasing role.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in Excel and Word.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of industry and market trends/conditions.
- Flexibility to travel to meet with suppliers, distributors, and manufacturers as required.
- Proven history of effective supply management.
- Able to create and administer a task priority list based on company needs.
