Junior/Assistant Specialist - Kim Lab

About the role

The Kim Lab at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for a Junior or Assistant Specialist to support our research program focusing on transcription factor regulation of gene expression in cellular differentiation and reprogramming. The ideal candidate should have experience with molecular biology and mammalian cell culture, and be able to contribute to both research and lab management.

Responsibilities

• Conduct high-throughput perturbation screens and targeted genetic engineering experiments using human pluripotent stem cells.
• Perform epigenomic assays to investigate the molecular basis of transcription factor target specificity.
• Regularly present research progress to the team and attend lab meetings.
• Read and critically analyze scholarly articles to stay current with advancements in the field.
• Help organize and maintain the lab environment, including equipment and supplies.
• Train and supervise undergraduate students as part of the research team.

Requirements

• Experience with molecular biology and mammalian cell culture.
• Effective organization, communication, time management, and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or related field.
• Strong background in molecular biology techniques and mammalian cell culture.
• Experience with high-throughput screening and genetic engineering.
• Ability to read and critically analyze scientific literature.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $194,800, depending on experience and qualifications.
