About the role

The Iowa Judicial Branch, in Pok County, seeks a Judicial Operations Clerk - Juvenile to handle essential administrative, data entry, and customer service tasks for efficient court operations and the integrity of court records.

Responsibilities

  • Process and manage juvenile filings and related case documents, including motions, adoption requests, CINA, Delinquency, Adoption, Guardianship, and Mental Health/Substance Abuse petitions, filings, and orders.
  • Verify accuracy of case information in court systems, ensure filings are complete and properly signed, confirm payment of fees, update litigant and attorney information, maintain accurate case records, and route documents to judges as required.
  • Provide assistance to the public, attorneys, and other court staff as needed.
  • Work with juvenile and children’s organizations throughout Polk County.
  • Learn and navigate court record-specific computer programs and technology.
  • Professionally communicate in person and on the phone with a variety of court users.
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of court records with keen attention to detail.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (or high school equivalency diploma).
  • One (1) year of full-time equivalent professional office experience in business support, court, or legal support.
  • Experience may be substituted with related education on the basis that successful completion of thirty (30) semester hours or academic equivalent equals one year of experience.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $21.98 - $34.74 per hour. This is a contract-covered, FLSA non-exempt position. The starting salary for new state employees is expected to be at the base of the pay range. Adjustments may be made if the successful candidate has relevant experience.
