About the Role

This posting will be used to hire a 0.25 FTE position, requiring approximately 10 hours per week including weekends and some state holidays. The Judicial Clerk I, II or III assigned to this position will provide clerical support for the Bond Hearing Office 3 (BHO3), which oversees weekend advisement and bond hearings pursuant to CRS 16-4-102. The successful applicant will provide complex case processing, including docketing new cases, clerking hearings, issuing orders, and other duties necessary to operate this weekend court.

This position is part of a progressive job series, and placement will be determined based on minimum qualifications and the relevant experience of the successful applicant. We will fill one position within this series based on the district's hiring needs and the qualifications and relevant experience of the selected applicant.

Hybrid Work Environment - Some job responsibilities will require work in-office work, however remote work is available as determined by the needs of the Bond Hearing Office and the organization. When the Judicial Clerk III assigned to the BHO3 is working remotely, they must ensure adequate and stable internet connection and telephone service from their work location.

Responsibilities

  • Assists customers with paperwork, answers questions, reviews court forms for completeness, and assigns case numbers.
  • Receives and processes incoming correspondence via email, mail, e-filing, and in-person filings, and distribution.
  • Directs customers to appropriate services such as legal clinics, self-help information and specialists, Supreme Court and local libraries, the bar association, or family court facilitators.
  • Maintains case documentation and updates case management system, including adding case information and documentation to case management system, updating case information, updating contact information, processing bond forfeitures, and entering transcript requests. Adheres to data integrity and timelines per applicable laws and regulations.
  • Transfers information from law enforcement tickets or information filed into the case management system.
  • Manages scheduling for time sensitive cases, such as cases requesting protection orders or other emergency matters. Ensures court-scheduled events and review dates are entered in every case.
  • Receives and processes referring court records from the trial court. Maintains the referring court record server. Transmits records to litigants. Processes and returns records upon mandate.
  • Accepts and processes payments via cash, check, and credit card for court fines, fees, filing fees, and bonds. Reconciles cash drawer and income daily and prepares the daily deposit.
  • Responds to customer's inquiries via phone, email, and voice mail. Acts as liaison between division/Judicial Officer and customers, directs parties to correct location and/or divisions, de-escalates situations of stress or conflict, and explains court processes without providing legal advice.
  • Trains within trial court/appellate court procedures.
  • Issues orders and notices from the court, including orders regarding case deadlines, orders of extension of time, notices of new case filings, notices of oral argument, receipt of trial court records, and mandates returning authority to a trial court once case is complete. Ensures service to all necessary litigants and trial/appellate courts.
  • Completes required trainings and attends meetings as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience Equivalency: High school diploma or G.E.D.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Physical Effort: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally.

Work Environment: Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Work Location: Office or similar indoor environment. Exposures: None.

Pay & Schedule

  • Salary Range: $46,221.60 - $67,021.56 (Full Time Salary Range; actual offer will be determined based on several factors, including relevant experience, budget availability, and compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, and will align with the Colorado Judicial Department's compensation step plan)
  • FLSA Status: Non-exempt
  • FTE: 0.25 (approximately 10 hours per week including weekends and some state holidays)
