Full-time, non-exempt position with a salary range of $46,221.60 - $67,021.56.

About the role

The Judicial Department works to provide equal access to justice, contribute to public safety, and strengthen the rule of law across Colorado. This role provides entry-level case processing assistance and customer service via counter, telephone, and electronic means, serving in a training capacity for more advanced responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Assists customers with paperwork, answers questions, reviews court forms for completeness, and assigns case numbers.
• Receives and processes incoming correspondence via email, mail, e-filing, and in-person filings, and distributes documents.
• Directs customers to appropriate services such as legal clinics, self-help information, specialists, libraries, the bar association, or family court facilitators.
• Maintains case documentation and updates the case management system, including adding case information, updating contact details, processing bond forfeitures, and entering transcript requests while adhering to data integrity and timelines per applicable laws and regulations.
• Transfers information from law enforcement tickets or filed documents into the case management system.
• Manages scheduling for time-sensitive cases, such as protection orders or emergency matters, ensuring court-scheduled events and review dates are entered in every case.
• Receives and processes referring court records from the trial court, maintains the referring court record server, transmits records to litigants, and processes and returns records upon mandate.
• Accepts and processes payments via cash, check, and credit card for court fines, fees, filing fees, and bonds; reconciles cash drawer and income daily and prepares the daily deposit.
• Responds to customer inquiries via phone, email, and voicemail; acts as a liaison between the division/Judicial Officer and customers, de-escalates stressful or conflict situations, and explains court processes without providing legal advice.
• Trains within trial court and appellate court procedures.
• Issues orders and notices from the court, including orders regarding case deadlines, extensions of time, notices of new case filings, oral argument, receipt of trial court records, and mandates returning authority to a trial court once a case is complete; ensures service to all necessary litigants and courts.
• Completes required trainings and attends meetings as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• No prior work-related experience required.
• No licenses or certifications required.

Work Environment

• Sedentary work involving sitting most of the time, with occasional walking or standing.
• Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally; negligible force frequently.
• Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions and hazards.
• Work location is an office or similar indoor environment with no significant exposures.
