Description

The duties and responsibilities of the Judicial Clerk I include performing a variety of specialized administrative, secretarial, and clerical tasks. Work involves displaying professionalism, initiative, organizational skills, and a strong work ethic. Frequent working contacts are made with judges, attorneys, unrepresented parties, and the general public. Work is often of a sensitive and confidential nature. Work requires independent judgment and is performed under the general supervision of a Judge of Compensation Claims.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and calendar live, telephone, and zoom hearings and other JCC events.
  • Review legal pleadings.
  • Generate orders for JCC review.
  • Generate notices of legal proceedings.
  • Communicate with parties regarding scheduling, deficiencies in pleadings, and information requested by the JCC.
  • Review exhibits to provide to the District Court of Appeal.
  • Maintain a system to track and monitor deadlines.
  • Generate reports regarding case and hearing information.
  • Proofread evidentiary orders drafted by the JCC and suggest possible style or grammatical corrections.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a high school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience in a legal setting, strong communication, reading, writing, and organizational skills, attention to detail, reliability, and punctuality.

Background

Successful completion of Level 2 background screening is required for all positions with the Division of Administrative Hearings.
