About the Role
Provide wound, ostomy, and continence (WOC) nursing in the prevention, health maintenance, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitative and palliative nursing care to persons with select disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems. Direct efforts to improve quality of care to individuals of all ages directly through hands-on care and indirectly as educators and consultation services.
Requirements
- Current/valid state of NJ RN license (or legal permission to work from the NJ Board of Nursing).
- Completion of an accredited Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing (WOCN) full-scope specialty education program with subsequent board certification in Wound (WOC) from the Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Certification Board (WOCNCB). Maintain recertification every five years.
- Completion of general nursing orientation, CPR certification, and unit-based orientation.
- BLS certification required from the American Heart Association.
- Computer and keyboard skills.
- Medical terminology required.
Skills
- Physical and cognitive requirements include full range of body motion (assisting patients, stretching, bending, lifting, sitting, kneeling, stooping, standing, walking, pushing, and pulling). Position classified as Very Heavy Work (exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50+ pounds frequently, and 20+ pounds constantly). NIOSH guidelines followed (average worker should not lift more than 51 pounds without assistance).
- Manual and finger dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and constant verbal communication in English.
- Effective oral and written communication, speech clarity, and deductive/inductive reasoning skills.
- Ability to perform work accurately, multitask efficiently, and maintain composure in stressful, changing environments.
- Competency in acute, chronic, complex, and/or terminal patient care.
- Collaborative skills to work within a multidisciplinary team (MDs, Rehab, Respiratory, DI, Laboratory, etc.).
- Strong time management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.

Pay
Pay range: $47.80 – $59.75 per hour. Actual individual salaries vary based on role, experience, education, and licensure.
