Position Summary

About the role

The position involves providing wound, ostomy, and continence (WOC) nursing care to individuals with gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary system disorders. Responsibilities include direct patient care, health education, and consultation services.

Responsibilities

• Provide wound, ostomy, and continence care
• Implement therapeutic interventions and rehabilitative/palliative nursing care
• Directly educate patients and provide consultation services
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including MDs, rehab specialists, respiratory therapists, dietitians, laboratory personnel, etc.
• Utilize effective time management and prioritize tasks to ensure efficient care delivery
• Function in a stressful environment and adapt to changing patient needs

Requirements

• Current/valid NJ RN license or legal permission to work from the NJ Board of Nursing
• Completion of an accredited Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing (WOCN) full scope specialty education program and subsequent board certification in WOC from WOCNCB
• Maintain recertification every 5 years
• Computer and keyboard skills
• Medical terminology knowledge

• Physical and cognitive requirements necessitating a full range of body motions including lifting, bending, stretching, sitting, standing, walking, pushing, and pulling
• Manual and finger dexterity, hand-eye coordination, speech clarity, and effective communication skills
• Ability to manage stress and adapt to changing work environments
• Cooperative working relationships with healthcare professionals
