Responsibilities

  • Obtain an associate degree in electrical technology or an equivalent two years of education with an emphasis on electrical or electrical technology, or complete at least 50% of credits toward a four year bachelors degree in electrical engineering within four years of the end of their on-trial period.
  • Learn how to test complex circuits, read AC and DC schematics, interpret, and use wiring diagrams, and understand microprocessor relay logic.
  • Participate in extensive training program consisting of in-house classroom and lab training at our state-of-the-art Learning Center and hands-on training in the field.
  • Learn about the operation, maintenance, and testing of protective relay systems, and transmission and distribution equipment.
  • Work on electrical construction projects, performing acceptance testing, and commissioning new protection systems and equipment.
  • Assist with testing, troubleshooting and repairs on protective relays and system, substation equipment, control systems and telephones lines in substations and other locations.

  • Able to travel and work in any location within the Company and service territory.
  • Ensure that all work is being performed in an effective and efficient manner.

Qualifications

  • Required Education/Experience: High School Diploma/GED.
  • Knowledge and skills pertaining to basic computer usage.
  • Strong working knowledge of mathematics and the ability to perform calculations involving basic trigonometry.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Driver's License Required.
  • Physical Demands: Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold; Perform heavy manual labor, i.e. push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs; Ability to work in adverse conditions that include, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations; Ability to work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces); Ability to work with, and in, the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems; Ability to be approved to wear and use either a full or half-face respirator and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), without facial hair or other conditions that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations; Ability to climb in and out of manholes and excavations; Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday; Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses; Use equipment with a manufacturer weight rating of 350lbs; Use equipment with a maximum weight rating of 375lbs when wearing and/or carrying 25lbs of clothing and equipment.
  • Additional Physical Demands: The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
