Jr. CAM Development Engineer (On-Site Mahwah, NJ)
About the role
This entry-level position supports the global CAM development team in building and maintaining CAD/CAM automation solutions. The Junior CAM Development Engineer performs structured assignments, applies established procedures, and gains hands-on experience with software and automated manufacturing equipment. Under guidance, they contribute to projects in the medical/dental technology domain while developing technical skills and collaborating with colleagues to ensure reliable production outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Develop new CAM-automation processes and maintain/update existing ones to keep them current and efficient.
- Recommend milling strategies and collaborate with the team to find optimal CAM-automation solutions.
- Participate in conference calls with global teams as needed to discuss solutions.
- Provide regular written and verbal status progress reports and project updates; communicate next steps to management.
- Actively participate in the development and worldwide roll-out of new systems.
- Support production operations by quickly responding to production issues, conducting root cause analysis, defining temporary work-arounds, and developing/implementing long-term solutions.
- Support prototyping and voice-of-customer experimentation.
- Document work and development according to company standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar engineering role.
- Exposure to CNC machining and CNC CAM programming (PowerMill or equivalent) preferred; or combined equivalent experience in engineering, hands-on CNC machining, and CAM programming.
- Ability to work on site in Mahwah, NJ, 5 days per week.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in PowerMILL and PowerSHAPE (Delcam/AutoDesk).
- Working knowledge of milling and turning industries, including developing cutting data and milling tools.
- Expertise in CAM automation and industrial solutions.
- Familiarity with manufacturing automation processes.
- Experience with 5-axis CNC controllers (e.g., Fanuc, Roeders, Heidenhain).
- Programming knowledge in C# and JavaScript.
- Experience with Post Processors.
