Journeyperson Welder (Suncor)

NACG is seeking Journeyperson Welders to join our remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area. This is an opportunity to work on one of the safest and largest contracts in the region.

About the Role

You’ll be working at the Suncor Base Mine Shop on a 14x14 day/night rotation. Overtime is paid at time and a half after 8 hours per day or 44 hours in a week. The role includes a Living Out Allowance of $15/hour (included in the rate) and bussing from Fort McMurray to the site.

Pay

Up to $74.47 per hour, including:

• Vacation and Statutory Holiday pay allocated to each paycheck
• Up to 61 hours of overtime per 14-day rotation
• Night shift premium of +$1.20/hour
• Boot Allowance and Tool Allowance (must bring own tools)

Schedule

14 days on, 14 days off, with day/night rotation.

Responsibilities

• Complete repairs on mining equipment, including Haul Trucks, Excavators, Shovels, and Dozers (CAT/Hitachi/Komatsu)
• Develop work scopes and fabricate from blueprints
• Complete reports and fill out work orders as required
• Follow NACG codes of practice and safety procedures
• Work outside if necessary

Requirements

• Red Seal/Alberta Journeyperson Welder certification
• 1-2 years of heavy equipment repair experience (preferably large Trucks/Dozers/Shovels/Excavators)
• Experience with mobile equipment repairs, ice lugging, lancing, and gouging
• Trained and experienced with Stick, MIG, large wire-feed welders, radiograph, Cooper-heat, Plasma cutter, Lance, and overhead crane
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and ability to provide a recent Driver’s Abstract
• Valid CSO or BSO (Energy Safety Canada)
• Certifications: Silica Awareness, Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness, OHS Alberta Legislation Awareness, H2S Awareness, Field Ergonomics (all Energy Safety Canada)
• Must pass pre-employment testing: Breath Alcohol Test, Urine Drug Test, Fitness-to-Work Health Assessment, Audiometric Testing, Vision Screening, Criminal Record Check
• Subject to random testing at Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills, and Kearl sites
