Journeyman-Plumber
Nature and Scope
This position does highly technical work and must respond to all situations, drawing from experience and background with maximum effectiveness and minimum supervision. The incumbent is responsible for installation and repair of piping and plumbing equipment; remodeling of plumbing, piping, and systems; planning jobs and ordering appropriate materials; installing oxygen, suction, air and mechanical air breathing systems; high and low pressure steam systems; and chilled water systems for air conditioning. The major challenges to this position are to maximize energy conservation, minimize equipment interruption or downtime, and minimize the impact on employees and patients when working on equipment in their area. Other related duties and overtime may be required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Can actively support Renown’s Standards of Conduct.
- Knowledge of state and local codes and regulations.
- Knowledge of hospital and department policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of drawings and schematics pertaining to the plumbing trade, and ability to complete material takeoffs.
- Ability to follow technical written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to plan, make decisions, implement them and work unsupervised.
- Must have working knowledge of medical breathing air compressors and vacuum pumps.
- Must have experience in institutional and campus plumbing systems.
- Must have experience in rebuilding small pumps.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English.
- Experience: Completion of apprenticeship program required.
- Licenses: Must have and maintain a City of Reno plumbing license upon hire. Valid State of Nevada or California Driver's license and ability to pass Renown Health's Department of Motor Vehicle Report criteria.
- Certifications: None.
- Computer / Typing: Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
