About the role

This posting is for a potential future opening with Entergy to build a candidate pool. The role involves constructing, building, and maintaining overhead and underground electric facilities with primary voltages up to 34.5KV.

Responsibilities

  • Installation, removal, and maintenance of OH/UG primary line facilities and secondary services
  • Installation of OH/UG transformers and wiring of all types of transformer banks
  • Installation, including wiring of regulators, capacitors, and reclosers
  • Driving different sizes and types of trucks
  • Operation of various equipment, including Aerial Bucket and Digger Derrick Trucks
  • Read and understand job prints and sketches
  • Recognize materials and their function
  • Setting and climbing all sizes of poles in open areas, rear alleys, and in energized lines
  • Available for on-call duty and emergency response

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years of lineman experience

Required Qualifications

  • Class A Commercial Drivers License (or ability to obtain)
  • Ability to use physical strength to perform tasks in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work irregular hours and out-of-town assignments as required
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to take and understand directives and complete tasks with limited supervision
  • Ability to plan and lay out work safely and efficiently
  • Ability to assume a lead role and direct the work of other linemen
  • Ability to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to learn through classroom instruction, OJT, and repetitive motions
  • Ability to climb and work off poles of various heights
  • Ability to recognize workplace hazards and mitigate them
  • Ability to maintain and care for Company equipment properly and safeguard assets
  • Ability to meet the public pleasantly and tactfully with a high level of customer service
  • Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement
  • Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base

Essential Functions

  • Traverse uneven terrain (wet, muddy, slippery, concrete, asphalt) with tools weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Work in extreme weather, including extreme heat and cold
  • Work in confined spaces
  • Work alone when performing restoration services
  • Perform physical tasks including digging, pulling, pushing, carrying, and lifting up to 80 pounds
  • Maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License
  • Safely operate trucks and heavy equipment and work safely around energized lines and equipment
  • Work at heights for extended periods
  • Work overhead from a bucket truck (perform work above shoulders on energized overhead lines)
  • Climb up and descend from wooden/steel structures, poles, and ladders; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, grip, handle, and feel
  • Perform emergency rescue operations, including bringing unconscious or injured co-worker down from significant height or elevated area
  • Exercise sound judgment necessary to work safely in an inherently dangerous environment
  • Understand and follow safety rules
  • Work up to 16 continuous hours per day
  • Wear required personal protection equipment
  • Perform basic computer tasks: entering time, noting task completion, checking/responding to emails, completing computer-based training
  • Communicate effectively and interact with a team
  • Manage stress and handle tense situations
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance
  • Work overtime when necessary
