Journeyman Lineman

About the Role

This posting is for a potential future opening(s) with Entergy to build a candidate pool, should the opening(s) become available. The role involves constructing, building, and maintaining overhead (OH) and underground (UG) electric facilities with primary voltages up to 34.5KV.

Responsibilities

• Installation, removal, and maintenance of OH/UG primary line facilities and secondary services.
• Installation of OH/UG transformers and wiring of transformer banks.
• Installation and wiring of regulators, capacitors, and reclosers.
• Driving various sizes and types of trucks.
• Operating equipment such as Aerial Bucket and Digger Derrick Trucks.
• Reading and understanding job prints and sketches.
• Setting and climbing poles in various conditions and locations.
• Being available for on-call duty and emergency response.

Requirements

• 5 years of lineman experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
• Physical strength to perform tasks in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work irregular hours and out-of-town assignments.
• Good communication skills and ability to work with limited supervision.
• Ability to plan and execute work safely and efficiently.
• Ability to lead and direct the work of other linemen.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to Entergy’s safety policies.
• Ability to learn through classroom instruction, on-the-job training, and repetitive motions.
• Ability to recognize and mitigate workplace hazards.
• Ability to maintain company equipment and provide excellent customer service.
• Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to traverse uneven terrain and work in extreme weather conditions.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and perform physical tasks (digging, pulling, lifting up to 80 pounds).
• Ability to work at heights for extended periods and perform overhead work from a bucket truck.
• Ability to climb and descend poles, ladders, and structures.
• Ability to perform emergency rescue operations.
• Sound judgment and understanding of safety rules.
• Ability to work up to 16 continuous hours per day and manage stress in tense situations.
• Basic computer skills for time entry, task completion, and communication.
• Regular and reliable attendance, including overtime when necessary.

Working Conditions

As a provider of essential services, employees must be available to work additional hours, in alternate locations, and/or perform additional duties during storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations as deemed necessary by the company. Exempt employees may not be paid overtime for such duties.

Primary Locations: Various cities in Texas, including Anahuac, Austin, Beaumont, Burkeville, Calvert, Cleveland, Conroe, Corpus Christi, Corrigan, Crystal Beach, Dayton, Groveton, Houston, Huntsville, Kountze, Madisonville, Marshall, Navasota, New Caney, Orange, Port Arthur, Port Neches, Silsbee, Somerville, Sour Lake, The Woodlands, Trinity, Vidor, Willis, Winnie, Woodville.
