Journeyman Fiber Technician
About the role
At Advanced Electric Systems, we are actively hiring Journeyman Fiber Technicians to join our team and contribute to critical communication projects across North America. In this hands-on field role, you will install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic systems in a variety of environments while upholding the highest standards of safety, precision, and craftsmanship.
Responsibilities
- Install, splice, and test fiber optic systems
- Interpret technical documentation to ensure quality and accuracy in every project
- Collaborate with field teams and support project timelines
- Maintain detailed documentation and lead/mentor junior technicians as needed
- Travel to job sites and uphold AES’s commitment to safety and performance
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with fiber optic installation, splicing, and testing
- Strong understanding of fiber types, color codes, and industry standards
- Ability to work in fast-paced field environments, including underground and aerial settings
- Willingness to travel frequently for project work
- Proven problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Commitment to safety and high-quality workmanship
- Experience mentoring junior technicians (preferred)
- Familiarity with GIS tools and digital tracking platforms (a bonus)
