About the role

Apply DoDD 5000-series guidance and AFMC/AFLCMC engineering policies to acquisition engineering activities. Support systems and avionics engineering across requirements, design, integration, development, modification, test, airworthiness, production, sustainment, deployment, operations, and divestiture.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, integrate and test Computer Systems & Software, to ensure adequate performance, safety, integrity, and airworthiness.
  • Assess hardware, software, and systems qualification to meet airworthiness criteria, especially criteria in MIL-HBK-516, section 15.
  • Support development and analysis of system and subsystem requirements, translating them into design criteria and system specifications.
  • Conduct technical planning, system integration analyses, trade studies, and risk assessments across weapon system platforms.
  • Assist in developing system performance requirements, integration objectives, and estimates for design, development, and sustainment.
  • Review engineering proposals, designs, specifications, and change packages; provide recommendations to optimize cost, schedule, and performance.
  • Support engineering reviews, design reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), working groups, and program reviews, providing technical input, documentation, and reporting.
  • Coordinate with acquisition organizations, higher headquarters, DoW entities, labs, industry, and universities; support documentation and emerging technology assessments.
  • Apply systems engineering processes for airworthiness, requirements, software releases, metrics and traceability, allocations, program protection, technical reviews, configuration audits, design analysis, interface integration, and test verification/validation.
  • Support development, deployment, and sustainment of technical processes ensuring safe operation and maintenance of systems.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "TOP SECRET with SCI eligibility" security clearance; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their TOP SECRET clearance prior to onboarding. Candidates with an existing TOP SECRET with SCI eligibility clearance are preferred.
  • ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Minimum ten (10) or more years of relevant DoD experience, including five (5) years of relevant DoD avionics experience and two (2) years in a special access DoD acquisition program as a sub-system lead engineer within a recognized ACAT I program.

Skills

  • Technical experience with software and computer system architectures; software and systems integration processes; fault tolerance, redundancy management, and high integrity design techniques; computer system hardware and software criticality identification; Safety Critical Function (SCF) thread analysis; verification techniques for software, hardware and system integration.
  • Developing/maintaining System Integration Laboratory (SIL) facilities with high fidelity test capabilities to Verification and Validation (V&V) of software and hardware; system integration verification coverage; Operational Flight Program (OFP) build, load, and flight release process; and the functional compatibility of all software and hardware.
  • Advanced degree in Engineering or related field (highly desirable).
  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills in a collaborative environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to work effectively within all organizational levels, including senior DoD leadership.

Pay

The annual salary range for this position is $118,000.00 - $196,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
