Systems Engineer (Journeyman)
Responsibilities
The candidate will serve as the Deputy for the Engineering Lead position, providing systems engineering support to the Mission Systems Integrated Product Team (IPT) for MH-60R/S helicopter sensor systems. This includes evaluating technical performance, mission suitability, and acquisition risks throughout the full acquisition process and lifecycle for various mission systems such as Acoustic sensors, Radar, FLIR, and EO/IR systems.
Work location is on-site in the Program Office spaces in Building 2272. Travel requirements are approximately two trips a year for a total of two weeks.
- Applies technical knowledge and systems engineering experience to perform functions such as system integration, engineering change proposals, flight clearances/airworthiness, configuration management, and risk management.
- Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analyses, reports, and other technical documentation.
- Reviews and prepares and processes engineering change proposals (ECPs).
- Reviews and prepares technical documentation for Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR) events and leads SETR events as required.
- Facilitates the preparation of Engineering/Data Requirements Acceptance Plans (EDRAPs), and supports airworthiness actions and flight clearance processes.
- Facilitates the development of Statements of Work (SOWs) and Critical Design Review Letters (CDRLs).
- Identifies, diagnoses, and develops solutions for modern complex systems engineering issues focused on acoustics and sensors, including the AN/AQS-22 Airborne Low Frequency Sonar (ALFS) dipping sonar systems, Digital Magnetic Anomaly Detection (DMAD), MH-60R Multi-Spectral Targeting System (MTS), and Forward Looking InfraRed (FLIR).
- Gathers, analyzes, documents, and manages technical and performance requirements from all relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Sums up data, observations, and findings to support the preparation of technical documents, reports, and presentations for stakeholders.
- Facilitates effective communication and collaboration among cross-functional teams, program offices, contractors, and external agencies.
- Prepares clear, concise, technical documents, including gap analyses, plans, and regular status reports/briefings.
Qualifications
- Technical or Scientific BS or BA degree from an accredited college or university.
- At least seven (7) years of recent and relevant experience in a position related to the labor category description is required.
- Demonstrated experience in an area of engineering expertise is required.
- Demonstrated experience with acoustic sensor systems is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with RADAR systems is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with FLIR and Electro-Optical/Infra-Red is highly preferred.
- Experience in Mine-Countermeasures (MCM) is a positive.
- Strong background in systems integration of mission systems within a DoD or Naval Aviation environment.
- Must have experience preparing and reviewing engineering documentation, specifications, and technical risk assessments for acoustics or sensor systems.
- Must have or be able to obtain an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Compensation
The general salary range for this position is $130,577.00 - $144,991.00.
