Journeyman 1 – Multi-Craft Maint. Tech - New Castle, PA

About the role

UPMC Jameson, located in New Castle, PA, is hiring a Journeyman Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician to join the Facilities Team. This full-time role will work varying shifts and includes on-call responsibility, with weekend, off-shift, and holiday work required. Final candidates will be selected for a job title within the career ladder that reflects level of education, experience, and manager discretion at time of offer.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance work and tasks as directed with minimal supervision.
• Inspect electrical distribution systems; locate short circuits, loose connectors, worn motor brushes, etc.
• Inspect fire alarm systems and provide first response to all fire alarms.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, equipment rooms, and shop areas.
• Maintain all written logs pertaining to shift responsibilities (e.g., med gas, equipment room rounds).
• Maintain water chemistry and testing procedures on equipment and building systems.
• Operate and maintain a variety of building’s direct digital control (DDC) systems.
• Order materials as needed.
• Perform all work following infection control procedures.
• Perform minor carpentry and painting work.
• Record work orders and submit hours to supervisor on a daily basis.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance of plumbing fixtures, piping systems, plumbing leaks (soldering), defective pipes, and clogged drains.
• Safely and efficiently operate and maintain all mechanical systems (e.g., steam pressure heating systems, water systems, ventilation systems, refrigeration equipment).
• Round mechanical equipment and machine rooms in all buildings as assigned.
• Perform required maintenance, repair, and inspection of beds.
• Perform snow removal activities and work in adverse weather conditions.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems and devices (Journeyman 2).
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot nurse call systems (Journeyman 2).
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot pneumatic tube systems (Journeyman 2).

Qualifications

Journeyman 1 – Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician:

• Completion of an Associate’s Degree, a two-year Mechanical or related Trade School program, or an Apprenticeship in a Trade required.
• 4 years of general maintenance work experience in a healthcare or commercial environment required; military experience considered.
• OR completion of a high school diploma/GED and a total of 8 years of general maintenance work experience in a healthcare or commercial environment required; military experience considered.

Journeyman 2 – Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician:

• Completion of an Associate’s Degree, a two-year Mechanical or related Trade School program, or an Apprenticeship in a Trade required.
• 7 years of general maintenance work experience in a healthcare or commercial environment required; military experience considered.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

• Driver’s License.
• Certifications in one or more specific trades preferred (HVACR, Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry).
• Driver’s License Act 34.

Pay

• Journeyman 1: $25.97 – $45.04 per hour.
• Journeyman 2: $27.99 – $48.00 per hour.
