Journeyman 1 – Multi-Craft Maintenance Tech - New Castle, PA

About the role

UPMC Jameson, located in New Castle, PA, is hiring a Journeyman Multi-Craft Maintenance Tech to join the Facilities Team. This is a full-time, on-site role with variable shifts, including rotating on-call responsibility. Working weekends, off-shifts, and holidays is required. Final candidates will be placed in a job title within the career ladder based on education, experience, and manager discretion at the time of offer.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance work and tasks as directed with minimal supervision.
• Inspect electrical distribution systems, locate short circuits, loose connectors, worn motor brushes, etc.
• Inspect fire alarm systems and provide first response to all fire alarms.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, equipment rooms, and shop areas.
• Maintain all written logs pertaining to shift responsibilities (e.g., med gas, equipment room rounds).
• Maintain water chemistry and testing procedures on equipment and building systems.
• Operate and maintain building direct digital control (DDC) systems.
• Order materials as needed.
• Perform all work following infection control procedures.
• Perform minor carpentry and painting work.
• Record work orders and submit hours to supervisor on a daily basis.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance of plumbing fixtures, piping systems, plumbing leaks (soldering), defective pipes, and clogged drains.
• Safely and efficiently operate and maintain all mechanical systems (e.g., steam pressure heating systems, water systems, ventilation systems, refrigeration equipment).
• Round mechanical equipment and machine rooms in all buildings as assigned.
• Perform required maintenance, repair, and inspection of beds.
• Perform snow removal activities and work in adverse weather conditions.
• Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Journeyman 2 Additional Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems and devices.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot nurse call systems.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot pneumatic tube systems.

Requirements

Journeyman 1 - Multi-Craft Maint. Tech

• Completion of an Associate’s Degree, a two-year Mechanical or related Trade School program, or an Apprenticeship in a Trade and 4 years of general maintenance work experience in a healthcare or commercial environment; or
• Completion of a high school diploma/GED and a total of 8 years of general maintenance work experience in a healthcare or commercial environment.
• Military experience considered.

Journeyman 2 - Multi-Craft Maint. Tech

• Completion of an Associate’s Degree, a two-year Mechanical or related Trade School program, or an Apprenticeship in a Trade and 7 years of general maintenance work experience in a healthcare or commercial environment.
• Military experience considered.

Qualifications

• Driver’s License.
• Certifications in one or more specific trades preferred (e.g., HVACR, Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry).
• Act 34 clearance required.

Pay

• Journeyman 1 - Multi-Craft Maint. Tech: $25.97 to $45.04 per hour.
• Journeyman 2 - Multi-Craft Maint. Tech: $27.99 to $48.00 per hour.

Schedule

• Full-time, on-site role with variable shifts.
• Rotating on-call responsibility.
• Required to work weekends, off-shifts, and holidays.
