Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance of all HVAC & applied equipment and on-site start-up procedures.
- Repair and replace defective equipment, components, or wiring.
- Perform intermediate to advanced independent diagnostics, troubleshooting, pipefitting, and brazing of equipment.
- Conduct warranty service application by independently inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality for equipment.
- Verify functionality of new equipment.
- Educate customers on proper use of equipment, maintenance schedule, and operating manual.
- Problem-solve issues using reasoning and logic.
- Communicate with individuals who installed the system.
- Program new control systems using touchscreens and computers.
- Assist the owner's representatives to demonstrate that the system has been set up properly.
- Document actions taken on the jobsite to be included with project report.
- Direct discussions with building owners to assist with ongoing maintenance and service.
- Prepare wiring diagrams.
- Wear personal protective equipment when completing service tasks.
- Complete jobsite hazard assessment prior to initiating service and adhere to safety policies and OSHA guidelines.
- Demonstrate professionalism in appearance, verbal, and written communication.
- Interact with customers by offering status reports of service before, during, and after each call.
- Explain technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Communicate potential sales opportunities to the sales staff through the quote process.
- Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, product quality reports (PQR), and articles as required.
- Basic data entry and ability to navigate the use of email, internet, word processing programs.
- Download programs into equipment and micro controllers.
- Analyze trend data to ensure optimal performance.
- Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheld.
Qualifications
- Must have: Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, with a certificate in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning.
- Must have 5+ years related experience with increasing responsibility; or 7+ related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Must have a State license or certifications as required by the market.
- EPA approved Universal Technician Certification required, as necessary.
