Journey Worker - Welder
About the role
Re:Build Optimation is an industrial engineering design and fabrication firm in Rochester, New York. We work with customers in various industries to design and deliver unique automated industrial machines and skids. As part of Re:Build Manufacturing, we aim to rebuild America's manufacturing base and create meaningful, sustainable jobs in areas that have been deindustrialized.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic MIG and stick welds in flat and horizontal positions under supervision.
- Assist with setting up and operating welding machines, fixtures, and fabrication tools.
- Support layout, fit-up, and tack welding using basic shop drawings and weld symbols.
- Help prep and align pipe, tube, and structural materials; observe stainless steel processes.
- Participate in visual weld inspections and learn to identify common weld defects.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment in accordance with OSHA, 5S, and company safety procedures.
- Collaborate with fabricators, machinists, engineers, and project teams on diverse work.
- Progress to more advanced welding (vertical, overhead, TIG, stainless, pressure, etc.) as you move up levels.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
- Completion of a recognized welding program or apprenticeship.
- Basic knowledge of welding tools, procedures, and safety practices.
- Proven skill in welding in flat and horizontal positions.
- Capability to comprehend and adhere to basic shop schematics.
- Eagerness to learn and grow in advanced welding and fabrication techniques.
Qualifications
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to follow detailed instructions and work from blueprints and diagrams.
Skills
- Welding proficiency in MIG, stick, vertical, overhead, TIG, stainless steel, pressure, and other advanced techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately and efficiently.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and weld symbols.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and OSHA regulations.

Pay
The hourly rate for this position is $27.00 - $55.00. This range represents the Company’s good faith estimate of the base compensation for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location.
Schedule
Hours are flexible and depend on the needs of the department and the individual’s skill level. Shifts may vary depending on the project and customer requirements.
