Journey Technician - Tractor

Principal Functions & Responsibilities

• Properly and completely fill out all service reports, inspection checklists and timecards within department guidelines.
• Communicate extra time needed to complete tasks to dispatcher.
• Use SIS, ET, parts and service manuals.
• Properly segment jobs and order parts accordingly.
• Return unneeded parts immediately upon job completion, complete all necessary warranty documentation and send completed follow up forms on a timely basis.
• Effectively communicate job status to customers and office personnel.
• Work in an efficient and timely manner.
• Perform in-depth electrical, hydraulic and power train related troubleshooting using prescribed tools, guidelines and documentation.
• Maintain Altorfer supplied tooling and equipment, including personal tooling.
• May be required to orchestrate special parts arrangements to ensure that downtime is reduced as much as possible.
• Perform mechanical work relating to the business of the department.

Education/Qualification/Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Five years Heavy Equipment experience.

Skills/Abilities

• Perform high quality repairs, in an efficient fashion, and maintain a clean working environment while working in the field.
• Work independently.
• Use resources for information (when written documentation is not available).
• Have good decision making practices and ability to follow directions.
• Demonstrate effective communication ability, representing Altorfer’s professional image to customers and office personnel.
• Have good organizational skills and ability to write technical reports.
• Have intermediate keyboarding skills with a basic knowledge of Office software, preferably MS Word.

$35.00 - $46.31 per hour USD

About the Role

This position works the majority of time in a construction equipment shop. May work in the field or jobsites as needed. May on a continuous basis walk, bend and lift up to 100lbs. At times you may be required to move/operate equipment to figure out what maintenance needs to be performed. The noise level in the shop environment is usually moderate to high. This position also spends a portion of time in an office environment. May, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means.

Schedule

Monday to Friday 700 to 330 some Saturdays required.

Qualifications

Must be flexible to work Saturdays and overtime as needed.
