Journey Level Machinist

About The Role

Job Summary: Set up and operate machine tools, including HBM, VBM, lathes, milling machines, ID/OD grinders, planers, and bore, without assistance, following department policy and procedures manual, to manufacture and recondition component parts to customer, OEM and industry standards.

• Interprets mechanical drawings, blueprints, and sketches and performs precision metal cutting, grinding, shaping and fitting.
• Measures components, parts, and raw materials with precision measuring instruments, gauges, and tools.
• Works under limited supervision. Performs layouts, sets up, and operates machines.
• Read and interpret procedures, work orders, and technical drawings to meet specifications.
• Improves set ups and methods for higher quality and improved cost.
• Operates overhead crane and forklifts safely as directed by Supervisor.
• Performs other duties as necessary.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
• Maintains a safe, neat, and orderly workstation.
• Assists in the disassembly, inspection, and re-assembly of pump equipment when required.
• Communicate effectively to ensure smooth workflow transitions between team members.
• Supports and assists coworkers, including training and collaboration.
• Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide safety program which includes following all safety policies and procedures.
• Supports and cooperates in Sulzer Nuclear Quality Program.

Qualifications

• Completion of a machinist apprentice program or equivalent training.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in machining.
• Ability to hold close tolerances and conduct component inspection.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Basic math skills.
