Qualifications
- Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
- ESL Certification required within six months of employment for elementary and secondary core teachers
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Knowledge of subjects assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Experience: At least one year of student teaching or approved internship
Major Responsibilities And Duties
- Instructional Strategies: Develop and implement lesson plans; prepare lessons; present subject matter; plan and use instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment; conduct assessment of student learning styles; work with special education teachers; plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s); use technology.
- Student Growth and Development: Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits; conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement; assume responsibility for extracurricular activities; sponsor outside activities; be a positive role model; support school district mission.
- Classroom Management and Organization: Create classroom environment; manage student behavior; assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Communication: Establish and maintain open communication; conduct conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers; maintain professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members; use effective communication skills.
- Professional Growth and Development: Participate in staff development activities; keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies; compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required; attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

- Supervise assigned teacher aide(s).
