Position Summary
Career Readiness Learning Objectives:
- Teamwork – The journalism classroom student worker will work closely with the journalism professor to assist in teaching classes and grading assignments.
- Communication – The journalism classroom student worker will need to read slides and speak in front of the classroom, demonstrating strong oral communication skills. Strong written communication skills will also be needed for grading assignments.
Responsibilities
The Journalism Classroom Student Worker will assist the Director of the Journalism Program in the classroom. This includes the following tasks:
- Setting up laptop and classroom technology prior to the start of class time.
- Reading lecture slides to the class.
- Grading and review of some class assignments.
- Completing other tasks for the journalism program as needed.
The journalism teaching assistant will work with the director of the Journalism Program and report to the co-directors of the School of Communication and the Arts.
Qualifications
Required: Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred: Previous experience in the classroom is beneficial.
