Joint Training and Exercise Planner SME

About the role

Support the Joint Education and Training Division for the Space Operations Force in Colorado Springs. Responsibilities include planning, development, execution, and analysis of joint exercises and wargames such as Table Top Exercises (TTXs), Rehearsal of Concept (ROC) drills, and seminars.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site support for planning, developing, executing, and analyzing joint exercises and wargames.
• Establish the Joint Exercise Life Cycle for USSPACECOM Tier 1 exercises, Joint Task Force Space Defense (JTF-SD) Tier 2 exercises, and Combined Forces Space Component Command (CFSCC) Tier 2 exercises.
• Support reciprocal events at other Combatant Commands.
• Assist in developing, coordinating, and managing the Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) to track key actions and deliverable dates for each event's life cycle.
• Develop Master Scenario Events and implementers to accomplish training objectives.
• Prepare, publish, distribute, and archive Joint Exercise documents, including managing the Joint Master Scenario Event List (JMSEL).
• Update and share the JMSEL database with exercise planners, oversee Master Scenario Events (MSE) development, monitor the JMSEL database during exercises, and provide technical support and training for JMSEL users and Trusted Agents.
• Develop and coordinate Time-Phased Force and Deployment Data (TPFDD) using the Joint Operation Planning and Execution System (JOPES) as per the Standing TPFDD Letter of Instruction (LOI) and Supplemental Instructions.
• Use the USTRANSCOM Single Mobility System (SMS) to estimate Joint Exercise Transportation Program (JETP) Commercial Ticket Program (CTP) costs for each exercise and assist in developing local USSPACECOM/J7 SMS instruction.
• Provide Modeling and Simulation (M&S) support, including integration, execution, analysis, review, and assessment of key performance parameters.
• Coordinate with system architects/engineers to resolve issues or troubleshoot M&S tools.
• Work with internal and external customers to identify and implement appropriate simulation architecture based on event requirements and objectives.
• Propose technical solutions or alternatives for requirements not currently integrated into a simulation architecture.
• Schedule, prepare, coordinate, and conduct database/event tests to check functionality and interface of M&S with operational C4I systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• Proficiency in Joint Exercise and Training processes.
• Proficiency in the Joint Operations Planning Process at CCMD and/or Component Command level (highly desired).
• Previous experience at a Combatant Command (CCMD) with requirements and budget experience (highly desired).
• Ability to identify and resolve challenges at a strategic level.
• Ability to brief and interact with senior (GO/FLAG) level officers and senior civilians.

Pay

Salary range for this role is $120,000 to $130,000, with consideration given to experience, education/training, key skills, location, and contractual requirements.
