Women's Money Matters builds the financial literacy, confidence, and security of women and girls living on low incomes through a unique program that combines instructional workshops and personal, one-on-one coaching.

About the role

As a volunteer coach, you’ll provide ongoing, one-on-one support for your client. You do not have to be a financial wizard—all you need is the desire to help someone in your community make the most of the money she has. Per the request of Women's Money Matters students, all coaches are women.

Schedule

• Program runs August 10, 2026 – October 5, 2026
• Weekly commitment: Mondays, 6:30–8:00 PM EST (1.5 hours per week)
• 8-week commitment to your participant
• Additional time for orientation, monthly Coaches’ Exchange, and one or two follow-up contacts between workshops

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one financial coaching to a woman living on low income
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all client financial and personal information
• Attend a coaches’ orientation session
• Participate in monthly Coaches’ Exchange meetings
• Make one or two follow-up contacts with your client between workshops

Requirements

• Genuine interest in and commitment to working with women with low incomes
• Attend a background check and orientation
• Women aged 55+ are especially welcome; all women are encouraged to apply
• No prior financial expertise required

How the program works

We work with clients referred by local social service organizations and customize our program to their needs. Local financial institutions assist in leading our classes. Volunteer coaches serve as personal mentors, providing individualized help with the specific financial issues that keep clients in poverty.
