About the Role

The Volunteer Coach plays a pivotal role in fostering the personal and athletic development of participants within an educational setting. This position is dedicated to mentoring and guiding individuals or teams to enhance their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The Volunteer Coach collaborates closely with educational staff and families to create a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages growth both on and off the field. By designing and implementing training sessions, the coach helps participants achieve their potential while promoting physical fitness and healthy competition.

Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated experience or strong interest in coaching or mentoring youth in a sports or educational context. Ability to commit consistent time and energy to coaching sessions and related activities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with participants, parents, and staff. Basic knowledge of the sport or activity being coached and understanding of safety practices. Passion for working with youth and supporting their development in a volunteer capacity.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous volunteer or professional coaching experience in an educational or community setting. Certification in coaching, first aid, or CPR. Experience working with diverse groups of youth, including those with varying abilities and backgrounds. Familiarity with educational policies and child protection standards. Ability to develop and adapt training plans to meet individual and team needs.

Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and conduct regular practice sessions tailored to the skill levels and needs of participants. Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to help individuals improve their athletic abilities and teamwork. Ensure a safe and positive environment during all coaching activities, adhering to relevant safety guidelines and policies. Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and educational staff regarding progress, schedules, and any concerns. Promote values such as respect, discipline, and fair play, serving as a positive role model for all participants. As a Volunteer Coach, you are called to model character, integrity, and servant leadership, helping students grow not only in their athletic abilities but also in their faith, confidence, and personal development.
