Jobs: IT Developer

About the role

MailASail are looking to recruit an experienced developer to assist building their in-house systems, server software and websites. The ideal candidate will be a programming polyglot and will be naturally comfortable picking up new programming tools and becoming productive quickly.

Responsibilities

• Primary skill: Ruby on Rails, used for customer-facing websites and several new projects.
• Perl: Used as glue to bring systems together, requires writing scripts and a strong competency.
• MySQL: Good understanding of database design and SQL, used as a datastore.
• C: Basic understanding of compiling and maintaining software.
• Git: Version control system used for software deployment.
• Linux: Experience deploying software to Linux servers and maintaining Gentoo systems.

Requirements

• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails, including Capistrano, Git, plugins, CSS, monit, and nginx.
• Strong Perl skills, including the ability to write scripts.
• Good understanding of MySQL databases and SQL.
• Basic C programming skills and comfort with compiling and maintaining software.
• Experience with Git version control system.
• Linux server experience, including Gentoo system maintenance.
