About the role
Join our dynamic team of software engineers at 23andMe, where you'll play a pivotal role in developing AI systems that transform genetic data into actionable health insights.
Responsibilities
- Design and operate agentic AI pipelines that integrate LLMs with relevant genetic and clinical context
- Build RAG pipelines to retrieve and contextualize genetic data from vector stores
- Implement robust evaluation frameworks to ensure AI-generated results meet high standards for a health product
- Develop and maintain CI/CD methods and automated testing to ensure reliable and efficient code delivery
- Debug production incidents and restore services to operational status
- Integrate AI into daily workflows to automate tasks and enhance efficiency
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of industry experience in building agentic AI systems and LLM-powered pipelines
- Experience with RAG architectures and vector stores
- Strong understanding of LLM evaluation and the importance of rigorous testing for health products
- Proficiency in Python and related scientific libraries (pandas, pytorch)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), particularly in Terraform on AWS and containerization with Docker
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD deployment pipelines and testing frameworks
- A collaborative mindset and comfort working cross-functionally within the organization
Qualifications
- Experience with genetic data processing and analysis
- Knowledge of genetic research methodologies and ethical considerations
- Understanding of regulatory requirements for health products

Pay
The salary range for this position is $165,000 - $200,000 annually for candidates based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The actual starting salary will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and market conditions.
Schedule
We offer a hybrid work model, allowing flexibility between remote and in-office work.
