Software Engineering Manager (AI/Healthcare)

Software Engineering Manager (AI) Healthcare - W2 ONLY Location: Charlotte, NC – Hybrid (3 days onsite per week) We are seeking a hands-on Software Engineering Manager with a strong background in healthcare technology, AI/ML development, and software engineering. This individual will lead a team of engineers responsible for designing, building, and deploying AI-powered healthcare applications. The ideal candidate has worked within healthcare organizations or healthcare technology companies, has successfully delivered AI solutions into production, and remains actively involved in software development and architecture. Responsibilities Lead software engineering teams developing AI-powered healthcare applications.Design, develop, and deploy production AI solutions, including LLM applications, AI agents, RAG pipelines, and NLP systems.Remain hands-on with coding, software architecture, code reviews, and technical decision-making.Build solutions supporting healthcare workflows, including patient access, patient experience, and revenue cycle operations.Ensure applications meet HIPAA requirements and healthcare data security standards.Manage engineering delivery, timelines, technical quality, and team performance. Required Qualifications Healthcare Technology Experience: Must have professional experience working within healthcare organizations, hospitals, health systems, or healthcare technology companies. Experience with Epic, HL7, FHIR, patient access, patient experience, or revenue cycle workflows is highly relevant.AI/ML Engineering Experience: Proven experience developing and deploying production AI solutions, including LLM applications, generative AI, RAG pipelines, AI agents, or NLP systems.Software Engineering Experience: 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including recent hands-on coding and architecture work within the last two years.Engineering Management: 2+ years of direct experience managing software engineers, including technical leadership, project delivery, and team accountability.Programming Languages: Strong proficiency in Python and experience with at least one of Java, TypeScript, or Go.Cloud Engineering: Strong Microsoft Azure experience, including developing and operating production cloud applications.Healthcare Security & Compliance: Experience building solutions in HIPAA-regulated environments, including PHI handling, data privacy, encryption, access controls, and audit logging.DevOps & Agile Delivery: Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, automated testing, and Agile software delivery.Communication: Ability to communicate technical decisions, architectural tradeoffs, and project progress to technical teams and business leadership.
