Job Duties
- Performs scrub duties and related procedures for cardiac interventions, left heart catheterization and right and left heart catheterization with no assistance.
- Performs scrub duties and related procedures for peripheral diagnostics or interventions with minimal assistance.
- Ability to scrub, gown, glove and set up back table with necessary equipment.
- Records cardiac interventions, left heart catheterization and left and right heart catheterization hemodynamics with accuracy.
- Maintains ECG set up and rhythm monitoring.
- Maintains basic hemodynamic set up and waveform monitoring.
- Absorbs and relays information to staff.
- Assists in preparation of room with fellow staff members for safe, effective care of patient.
- Performs required checks on all safety equipment.
- Ensures adequate supplies present to perform procedures.
- Transports patients alone or accompanied by a fellow staff member.
Required License Certification and Registration
- RCIS, RCES, CEPS, or RT(R)CI certification required within the first 2 years of hire and must be maintained.
- If applicable, American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) and South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Act (SCRQSA) also required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within three (3) months of hire and thereafter maintained.
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
- Education: Bachelors Degree or equivalent
- Work Experience: Minimum of 1 year. Graduation from an accredited Invasive Cardiovascular Technology program; or equivalent education and/or experience and RCIS, RCES, CEPS, or RT(R)CI certification required; or Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology and one year of radiologic experience. Telemetry and Arterial and Venous Sheath Removal experience preferred.
