Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room by setting up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies prior to surgery.
- Assist surgeons and surgical team members by passing instruments and supplies during procedures.
- Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery to ensure all items are accounted for.
- Inspect surgical instruments and equipment for proper functioning and cleanliness.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to anticipate needs and respond promptly during procedures.
- Document surgical procedures and maintain accurate records as required.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards within the ASC environment.
Qualifications
- Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Scrub Technologist (NCCT or equivalent).
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a surgical technologist role, preferably in an ambulatory surgery center or hospital setting.
- Thorough knowledge of surgical instruments, procedures, and sterile techniques.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional surgical technology education preferred.
Work Environment
This position is based at our Ambulatory Surgery Center in Sarasota, FL. The role requires standing for extended periods, working in a sterile environment, and responding quickly to surgical team needs.
