About the role

Garza & Carrillo Consulting is seeking reliable, positive, and supportive Job Coaches / Job Skills Trainers to help young adults with disabilities develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in real workplace settings. This is a great opportunity for college students, recent graduates, helping professionals, educators, or individuals seeking meaningful supplemental work and hands-on experience. Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required; we provide training and support to the right candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and reinforce job duties and workplace skills
  • Support professional communication and appropriate workplace behavior
  • Help individuals problem-solve challenges on the job
  • Build confidence, independence, and self-advocacy
  • Observe and document progress
  • Communicate professionally with employers and our team
  • Provide consistent support throughout accepted assignments

Who we're looking for

Experience is helpful, but your attitude, reliability, availability, and ability to communicate are just as important. Strong candidates are dependable and committed; positive, patient, and encouraging; strong communicators; comfortable working independently; good problem-solvers; organized and responsive; comfortable learning new skills; and able to consistently follow through on assignments they accept.

We especially encourage college students and recent graduates interested in gaining hands-on professional experience. Relevant areas of study may include: Psychology, Education, Special Education, Social Work, Counseling, Rehabilitation, Human Services, Sociology, Kinesiology, Healthcare, Occupational Therapy, or related fields.

Requirements

  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to community worksites
  • Smartphone, computer, and reliable internet
  • Access to a printer/scanner
  • Professional and timely communication
  • Ability to complete required onboarding and credential training
  • Ability to complete required documentation on time

Understanding the opportunity

This is an Independent Contractor (1099) opportunity with variable hours. It is not a traditional part-time position with guaranteed weekly hours; assignments depend on customer referrals in your area and your availability. Opportunities may occur mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekdays, and weekends. Many assignments last several weeks. When you accept an assignment, we are looking for trainers who can commit to the customer's schedule and provide consistent support from beginning to completion.

Greater availability, reliability, and geographic flexibility increase potential for ongoing assignments. This opportunity may be especially attractive if you are looking to gain hands-on experience in disability and employment services, build your resume while attending college, supplement another job or professional role, work directly in your community, or make a meaningful difference in someone's employment success.

Pay

$20/hour for approved Job Skills Training services. Paid onboarding and required training provided.
