Reports to: Career Readiness Teacher/Job Developer/Vocational Coordinator

About the Role

The Job Coach will provide direct prevocational instruction and technical assistance to students in the SASED Transition and high school programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Flexible work schedule
  • School Bus Permit to drive SASED Vans (SASED can provide support)
  • Prior work experience required

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and supervision during work-related programming, including STEP or other work programs.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all matters pertaining to students and personnel.
  • Maintain professional relationships with all businesses and act as liaison for SASED at all job sites.
  • Model and direct appropriate work site behavior, dress, interactions with employer, other employees, and customers.
  • Adapt work/homework under the direction of the teacher/supervisor to support and/or reinforce classroom and work objectives.
  • Administer surveys, assessments, etc. under the direction of the teacher/supervisor to assess student progress toward work goals.
  • Monitor, escort, and assist individual students to provide a safe and positive learning and working environment.
  • Assist with STEP data collection, input, and management requirements.
  • Evaluate, in collaboration with the Vocational Coordinator and/or Program Administrator, Educational Support Professionals on job sites working with students.
  • Participate in student team meetings as necessary.
  • Direct student workers with daily functions and other work-related experiences.
  • Provide and/or assist students in managing individualized personal care and/or hygiene needs (e.g., toileting, diaper changes, feeding, brushing teeth).
  • Provide support and supervision in community and school work environments to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Operate assistive technology equipment, prone standers, walkers, OT/PT devices, and other related items.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programs for students with varying functional levels.
  • Maintain a work schedule reflective of employer needs.
  • Under the direction of the vocational coordinator, maintain student behavior using behavior management strategies (e.g., escorting, token economy systems, point level systems).
  • Demonstrate knowledge of students' needs (educational, medical, physical, sensory, speech/language, social/emotional, recreational, vocational) as established by a multidisciplinary team.
  • Transport and assist with supervision for student safety while loading and unloading buses/vans for daily transport to and from job sites.
  • Work closely with classroom teachers and parents to communicate timely information for an efficient and supportive learning environment.
  • Assist with maintaining an uninterrupted learning environment when substitutes are present.
