Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with youth ordered into the care and custody of JJYS
- Monitor visitors and residents within the facility
- Schedule and coordinate activities for the youth
- Auxiliary the Control Supervisor by making perimeter checks
- Resolve potentially dangerous situations to ensure the safety of staff, clients, and the public
- Apply appropriate intervention techniques to people, facilities, and property
- Participate in one week of New Employee Training within the first 90 days after hire
- Participate in one week of verbal and physical de-escalation training
- Transport youth offenders while ensuring public safety
- Provide a continuum of intervention, supervision, and rehabilitation programs
- Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in writing
Qualifications
- Willingness to be part of a thriving team focused on changing young lives, supporting families, and keeping communities safe
- Availability to work rotating shifts, days, swing, graveyard, weekends, and holidays
- Candidates 19 years of age or older
- Candidates with a high school diploma or GED
- Candidates that speak multiple languages
- A valid Utah Driver's License
