About the role

The Department of Health and Human Services operates the Utah Division of Juvenile Justice and Youth Services (JJYS), providing a continuum of prevention, intervention, supervision, and rehabilitation services and programs to youth offenders while ensuring public safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with youth ordered into the care and custody of JJYS
  • Monitor visitors and residents within the facility
  • Schedule and coordinate activities for the youth
  • Auxiliary duties under the supervision of the Control Supervisor
  • Resolve potentially dangerous situations to ensure the safety of staff, clients, and the public
  • Transport youth offenders while assuring public safety
  • Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in writing

Qualifications

  • Minimum age requirement: 19 years old
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Utah Driver's License
  • Preference given to candidates who speak multiple languages

  • Ability to work rotating shifts, days, swing, graveyard, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in writing

Pay

Salary – $15.00 per hour
