About the role

This position is funded for part-time hours during the school year ONLY (August-May).

Responsibilities

  • Understands, practices, and promotes the vision of Williamson County Juvenile Services
  • Supervises and redirects youth behavior using department trained intervention strategies
  • Makes intentional effort to engage youth while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
  • Oversees the daily activities of resident to include but not limited to education, physical education, group activities, meals, chores, and visitation
  • Processes intakes, admissions, and releases and completes all necessary paperwork
  • Completes daily documentation, including youth behavior and progress reports
  • Maintains a clean and safe working and living environment designated by the facility
  • Complies with department, county and Texas Juvenile Justice Department policy and standards
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance
  • Attends all meetings and trainings as assigned
  • Performs all other special duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 21 years of age per Texas Administrative Code Section 344.200
  • No disqualifying criminal history as defined in Texas Administrative Code Chapter 344
  • Valid driver's license within 30 days of employment
  • Pass a comprehensive criminal records check, child abuse registry check, and drug test
  • Pass a physical exam provided by County
  • Certified in CPR, first aid, and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training
  • Trained in Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI)

Qualifications

  • One (1) year of experience working with youth (i.e. teaching, counseling, coaching, mentoring, etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred

Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Knowledge of juvenile justice systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively

Benefits

Full-time & part-time employees participate in the Texas County & District Retirement System (TCDRS), and employees may also participate in a retirement savings program (Deferred Compensation).

Schedule

This position will only work part-time hours, during the school year, aligned with local school districts it serves (roughly mid-August through late May/early June).
