About the role
This position involves preparing and assisting with patient visits, establishing relationships with patients, and performing various medical tasks under the supervision of a physician.
Responsibilities
- Prepare examining rooms and physical facilities for patient visits.
- Assist with medical procedures during patient visits.
- Establish helpful and friendly relationships with patients.
- Prepare patients for the physician, including weighing and measuring them, and performing tests as necessary.
- Clean examining room after patient leaves.
- Carry out physician orders, such as giving injections, making appointments, cleaning and bandaging wounds, and administering treatments.
- Screen incoming calls and decide if the physician or Nurse Practitioner needs to see or call the patient.
- Inform parents on how to care for and what to expect from their child's illness.
- Periodically check the work area, including waiting rooms, and tidy up as necessary.
- Record test results in patient charts and contact patients as necessary regarding tests.
- Collect urine drug screen specimens and do proper paperwork.
- Perform breath alcohol tests.
- Administer well-child exams and administer immunizations.
- Contact pharmacies to authorize prescribed medication for patients.
- Pull and process patient charts for the next day, including stamping, adding sheets, and updating immunizations.
- Thoroughly clean and stock each examination room weekly.
- Make patient appointments.
- Perform filing, answering phones, and other duties as assigned by the physician.
Requirements
- Current unencumbered licensure with the WV Board of Practical Nursing, or appropriate state board where services will be provided, as a practical nurse OR current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- Current CPR required.
- Experience as an LPN preferred.

- Education: Current unencumbered licensure with the WV Board of Practical Nursing, or appropriate state board where services will be provided, as a practical nurse OR current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).

- Physical strength and stamina for heavy/hard work.
- Ability to lift, move, stoop, reach, position patients, stand, walk, carry or patients, materials and equipment weighing 40+ lbs.
